Optimal inventory control with cyclic fixed order costs

چکیده

We consider a periodic review single-item inventory model under stochastic demand. Every m periods, in the regular order period, fixed costs are K. In periods in-between, intraperiods, higher of L > K $L>K$ apply. The literature on optimal policies does not account for these time-dependent costs. By generalizing existing proofs policies, we close this gap theory. policy is complex period and period-dependent ( s , S ) $(s,S)$ optimal. describe prove based notion K-convexity ordering behavior presence non–K-convex cost functions. numerical study, find that major driver forward-buying effect shifts probability from intraperiods to period. differences between pure are, however, small.

Capacitated inventory problems with fixed order costs: Some optimal policy structure

Using a generalization of Scarf's K-convexity, we are able to show that the optimal policy for the periodic review inventory problem with xed ordering costs and nite capacity has an (s; S)-like structure. In particular, we are able to divide the parameter space into four regions. In two of these regions the optimal policy is completely speci ed. In the other two, it is partially speci ed.

Optimal Dynamic Joint Pricing and Inventory Control for Multiplicative Demand with Fixed Order Costs and Lost Sales

In this paper we study the optimal dynamic decision-making problem for a retailer selling a single product and facing price-sensitive, stochastic (multiplicative) demand in each period. Any leftover inventory for a period is carried over and charged a holding cost at the end of the period. Leftovers at the end of the selling horizon earn a non-negative salvage value. On the other hand, any unsa...

Technical Note - Optimal Dynamic Joint Inventory-Pricing Control for Multiplicative Demand with Fixed Order Costs and Lost Sales

This note studies the optimal dynamic decision-making problem for a retailer in a price-sensitive, multiplicative demand framework. Our model incorporates lost sales, holding cost, fixed and variable procurement costs, as well as salvage value. We characterize the structure of the retailer’s (discounted) expected profit-maximizing dynamic inventory policy for both finite and infinite selling ho...

A Simple Heuristic for Serial Inventory Systems with Fixed Order Costs

Order coordination is key to improving supply chain efficiency. To coordinate orders, it is crucial to find centralized solutions for order quantities. In the deterministic demand regime, there exist easily implementable integer-ratio policies which guarantee 94% effectiveness. However, no analogous heuristic exists for the stochastic model. In this paper, we aim to propose one. Specifically, w...

Note: A Simple Heuristic for Serial Inventory Systems with Fixed Order Costs

Consider a continuous-review, serial inventory system with N stages. Material flows from stage N to stage N − 1, N − 1 to N − 2, etc., until stage 1, where stationary compound Poisson demand occurs. Let and denote the demand rate and the mean of demand size, and D t denote the demand over a time interval t. There is a constant lead time Lj for stage j . Define L̃i = ∑i j=1Lj . Inventory is contr...
